The Koinè Center offers Italian courses of different lengths, levels, and teaching methods to satisfy a variety of student needs. Courses are offered in several of Italy's most scenic, historic locales--Florence, Lucca, Cortona, Orbetello, and Bologna.
Koinè Center students are energetic and highly motivated to learn Italian. Our students come from around the world. 35 percent are from Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, and England), 30 percent from Asia (Japan and Korea), and 25 percent from North America (Canada, Mexico, and the United States).
The language course is offered yearround for a duration of 4 weeks, with 80 hours of language lessons. This is an introductory course and there are no prerequisites. The classes concentrate on the spoken language that you will encounter in daily life in Italy. The Koinè method involves active participation in conversations, dialogues, games, and class readings.
Classes are organized in small, homogeneous groups of from 4 to a maximum of 12 participants. There are 5 different ability levels, each with its own teaching methods designed specifically for that language level.
In Florence, afternoon art, cultural, and gastronomic activities are offered separately and for an additional fee. The length of these activities is two weeks, same starting date as language courses, three afternoon meetings or guided tours per week, all activities in Italian.
In Lucca,Cortona, Orbetello, and Bologna, the Italian language course includes afternoon art, cultural, and gastronomic activities in the course fee.
