Authentic Spanish Immersion
Na’atik’s Spanish Immersion program is a unique opportunity to improve your Spanish, experience authentic Mexican culture and make unforgettable memories, all while supporting a good cause! Based off the beaten path, in the city of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, our school is at the heart of a community untouched by tourism. English is not widely spoken here, giving you the perfect chance to practice your Spanish in genuine everyday scenarios.
During your immersion program you will stay with one of our welcoming homestay families. Homestays are the ideal way to experience the local culture and ensure exposure to spoken Spanish throughout the day. Your host family provides three meals a day, allowing you to enjoy the delicious local cuisine as eaten by families across the region. While we always encourage staying with a homestay in order to make the most of your studies, we can also recommend local hotels if needed.
On top of 18 in-class hours with highly trained bilingual teachers, your program will include:
A guided walking tour of our historic city, which was once the capital of the Maya nation.
A welcome meal showcasing popular local delicacies such as salbutes and panuchos.
An excursion to a beautiful local cenote or stunning hidden lagoon.
A cooking class where you can try your hand at a regional specialty (for stays of two weeks or more).
We also offer a wide range of optional activities and excursions.
Na’atik is a non-profit school, with your program helping us to provide subsidized classes and free library access to local and Indigenous students. Na’atik uses only local suppliers and partners, ensuring that proceeds stay within, and help grow, the community here in Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Accommodation
We strongly recommend that you stay with a homestay family when you study with us. This is where you’ll master your language learning and will truly immerse yourself. All our homestay families try to make your stay comfortable so you can rest and have a wonderful time during your time in Carrillo Puerto. Homestays include three traditional homecooked meals a day.

Teaching Philosophy
Our philosophy is to teach real-life, communicative language skills in a student-centered environment that encourages our students to continue learning and growing outside the classroom. Our main goal is to get our students communicating in their target language, not to overanalyze grammar.

Our Town
Na’atik’s colorful, bustling town, commonly called ‘Carrillo’, is just one hour south of Tulum and two hours north of Belize in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Carrillo is surrounded by green, low-brush jungle in the center of the state of Quintana Roo in the heartland of the Maya resistance. Some of the world’s most spectacular Caribbean beaches are just over an hour away.

How To Get Here
Most of our students choose to fly in to Cancun International Airport, which is around 200km north of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Options for traveling from Cancun to the school include bus, taxi and rental car. Please read our travel guide and recommendations when arranging your journey.
